How We Judge

The measures behind our rating.

I

The floor, and the walk to it

How the gaming feels dressed up for the evening — the tables, high-limit rooms and slots — and whether the floor is on site or a short walk away.

II

The rooms

The comfort and confidence of the rooms and suites, and whether the hotel carries the black-tie occasion all the way to the pillow.

III

Dining & the evening

The restaurant, the bar and the after-midnight service — everything that turns a game into a proper night out.

IV

Location & value

Where it sits, how easy it is to reach in your finery, and whether the evening as a whole is worth it.

Side by Side

The five, compared.

Good to Know

Everything you might ask.

Which stay is your headline pick?

The Park Tower Knightsbridge — a five-star landmark by Hyde Park with a Grosvenor casino, Salon Privé private rooms and all, inside the building. It is the definitive black-tie stay and heads our ranking.

Are these venues strictly 18+?

Yes. In the UK 18 is the legal minimum for casino gaming, and every venue here admits adults aged 18 and over only. Photo ID is checked at the door under Think 21 and Challenge 25, so carry some even in black tie.

Does every hotel have the casino inside?

No, and we say so in each review. Only two, The Park Tower Knightsbridge and Genting at Resorts World Birmingham, have the floor on site. For the others the casino is a short walk away — often just a few minutes from the door.

Do you run a casino or take bookings?

No. Thames & Tiara is an independent editorial guide — not a casino, hotel or booking agent, and not an online casino. We take no bookings, hold no money and run no gaming; every score is our own opinion.

How is each hotel scored?

We judge four measures — the floor and the walk to it, the rooms, dining and the evening, and location and value — out of ten. Details change over time, so treat our facts as approximate and confirm with the hotel and casino first.

Dress up, play down to your limit.

However smart the evening, a casino is entertainment and never a way to earn. Set a limit before you play and stick to it — and every venue in this guide is adults-only, 18 and over, with ID checked at the door.
